School Transport and Catachment Area

Royal and Prior School traditionally has served a very wide area – this is facilitated by weekly boarding in the Royal School House and an extensive bus network.

Students travel by bus from Dunfanaghy, Creeslough, Kerrkeel, Ramelton, Gartan, via Letterkenny; Welchtown, Ballybofey, Stranorlar and Convoy; Castlefinn and Lifford; Carrigans & St. Johnston; Killea, Burt, Newtowncunningham and Manorcunningham.

The school works closely with Bus Éireann and the bus companies contracted to provide the transport service to facilitate a safe and efficient service. Every school bus has a number of bus prefects who liaise with drivers, students and Mrs McClean (the teacher in charge of school transport).

The bus prefects play an important role in ensuring new students get on the correct bus and do not forget to take P.E. bags, coats etc off the bus; they also reassure these younger students that they will be protected from bullying.
