Royal & Prior Comprehensive School
Variety concert, “A Royal and Prior Engagement” on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th March 2010.
Muiscal items included Niall O’Gorman on vocals and guitar, pianists Cian Boyd, Caroline Scott, Adam Devenny and Hannah McCauley, Aisling Murray on tin whistle and the “Little Octobrists” (Tomas Adair and Chris McLauren) who proved that a bucket can be used as a musical instrument!
Newcomers to the school stage included Latin for Lily, (Rachel Bailey and Sarah-Jane McCready) and Lewis Alcorn. Although this was their first appearance it certainly won’t be their last as both acts showed great talent.
Flea circus (Cian Curran, Andrew Tinney, Ben Oliver and Sam Oliver) made their second appearance at the annual concert and evidently have geled over the past year as a band. After their performance of “Mr. Brightside” they were joined on stage by twelve others to perform “21 guns”.
Flautist Nicola Porter also gave a great performance as did senior choir under the direction of Mr. Fitzsimons with a flawless acapella rendition of Scottish folk song “Annie Laurie”.
The Manor farmers, (Laura Buchanan, Viicky Lockhart, Grace Doherty and Richard Smyth) had the audience “in stitches” laughing with their sketch on hard times in days gone by as did “Sensitivity” (Adam Devenney, Cian Boyd, Niall O’Gorman and Andrew Peoples) with their skit on the Spice Girls with song “Wanna Be”.
Rachel’s Rascals brought the night to a close with two great dance routines to JLS “Beat Again” and Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow”
Congratulations to all involved in making the concert a most enjoyable night.
